Vintage or Antique Agate Beads from the African Trade VB_0887_A

A strand of 14 cylindrical-shaped vintage or antique black agate beads from the African Trade.  The beads are of a beautiful black color with a white band, partially semi-translucent, and partially opaque, where these two properties are seen on many of the same beads.  One side of each bead ground into a tapered cone to create an unusual shape.   The beads are sourced in West Africa.  The precise cut and the combination of colors indicate that they were likely cut at the Idar-Oberstein factories in Germany. 

Bead sizes: 36x9mm

The strand is about 21" long.

The beads are of venerable age, and while most are in very good shape,  some have nicks and chips consistent with age.  Please see the photos for the detail.
