A short strand of 10 Large Ancient Islamic Period Blue Evil Eye Beads 0008
A short strand of 10 large blue ancient evil eye glass beads sourced in Mali. Excavated in the areas of D'Jenne and Gao, these beads are stunning in their beauty. They are dated to Islamic Period, between 8th and 12th century AD.
The beads are ancient and are somewhat irregular in shape. Every bead is unique. Most of the beads are in good shape, clean, and intact, but minor cracks or nicks that do not impact the integrity of the bead are possible and appropriate for the age of these beads. An occasional bead may be green but most of the beads are blue. The eyes are mostly white, with an occasional yellow eye possible. Some eyes show substantial wear appropriate for the age. There may be an occasional bead with no eye. Some beads have some patina. The photo is that of a sample strand, you will get a random strand of similar beads. We do our best to make sure that all strands in a listing are very similar, but if you would like to see the exact strand you are getting, please indicate so with your order, and we will send you a photo of your specific strand.
The last few photos show the group of beads in this listing. Different photos are taken in different lighting to show what they look like depending on the light. Some of the photos are backlit to show the transparency of the beads. This is how the beads look like when looked at in bright sun or against an electric light. These are really beautiful beads and we tried to capture their color as accurately as possible. Yet, all monitors are different and you should take that into account.
The beads are almost round, about 12-16 mm in diameter and 11-12mm long.
Weights and sizes are approximate.

COLORS: Our photos are taken in different lighting in an attempt to show how beads look in different lighting conditions. We make every effort to show colors as accurately as possible. The white background photos are taken in daylight conditions. The black background photos are taken in the strong lab light, and would be representative of what they would look like in the evening electric light. Some of the photos are backlit to emphasize their translucency. Note that monitor settings strongly affect the way the colors look. What you see on your monitor may differ from what you see with a naked eye depending on your monitor settings.
