A large ancient or antique dark green Serpentine bead from Mauritania.
Since antiquity, Serpentine has been highly prized in West Africa, so much so that it is sold by weight like gold.
The bead weighs 14g and is 31x15mm.

The bead is in good antique condition, with signs of wear appropriate for the age. There is a surface crack near one end of the bead. Please see the photos for details.
