This listing is for individual African Trade molded crystal glass pendant beads. Also called Holari amulet beads in Mali, where these beads are worn by Fulani women. These beads were made in the late 1800s early 1900s and traded to Africa.

These beads are old. Once transparent and faceted, with time they became more opaque, and some of the facets have been smoothed with the exposure to the elements and the many hands they passed through.

There is a tint of yellow (or pink) in some light conditions, more milky semi-transparent in others.  The detailed photos are enlarged to show imperfections appropriate for the age.

In this listing, the beads are separated into two groups.  Type A is more transparent, with visible faceting.  In type B,  the beads are more opaque, with facets mostly smoothed.  Please see the photos for more detail. You can choose the type of beads at checkout.  The beads are approximately 24x12x15mm, with a few smaller or larger.

The beads are old, and some show age-appropriate patina. Some of the beads have a more golden tint than others, although in daylight the gold tint seems less intense than in the white background photo. The beads may show age-appropriate chips, ticks, and imperfections.

Weights and sizes are approximate.

COLORS: Our photos are taken in different lighting in an attempt to show how beads look in different lighting conditions. We make every effort to show colors as accurately as possible. The white background photos are taken in daylight conditions. The black background photos are taken in the strong lab light and would be representative of what they would look like in the evening electric light. Some of the photos are backlit to emphasize their translucency. Note that monitor settings strongly affect the way the colors look. What you see on your monitor may differ from what you see with a naked eye depending on your monitor settings.
