A Very Large Ancient Serpentine Bead from West Africa VB_0475A
An ancient dark green Serpentine from Mauritania. Collectible.
The bead is in excellent antique shape. However, as appropriate for the age, some nicks and chips may be present. Please see the photos for the detail. Serpentine has been highly prized in West Africa since antiquity, so much so that it is sold by weight.
The bead is 38g, 43mmx23mm.
The hole size is approximately 9mm, varying somewhat from bead to bead.
